Listen - England - McClaren to defy Allardyce on Owen
England coach Steve McClaren has called up Newcastle striker Michael Owen for the Euro 2008 qualifers against Estonia and Russia, and he will start him if he thinks he is fit.
Owen is recovering from stomach surgery, and his inclusion in the squad is thought to be against the wishes of Magpies boss Sam Allardyce.
McClaren has defended his decision, and has also explained why West Ham striker Dean Ashton has been restored to the international set-up.
