Newcastle United made their 5th summer signing after convincing Manchester United striker Alan Smith that St James’ Park was the place to be. The Geordies’ fought off serious interest from Everton and Middlesbrough to capture the England international, who has also been utilized in midfield, and manager Sam Allardyce says he’s overjoyed getting a player of high quality at the club.
