Liverpool took their spending past the £40m mark this summer, as Ryan Babel and Yossi Benayoun arrived at Anfield.

The Israeli captain revealed he took a pay cut to join Rafa Benitez's side, saying he couldn't refuse Liverpool when they came calling for him.

Benayoun signed a 4 year deal, after two seasons at Upton Park, where he scored 8 goals in 72 games.
