Crewe A 1-2 Man Utd - A frantic match which was seconds away from penalties resulted in a victory for the Premiership side. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer (26) had given the Red Devil's the lead, before Luke Varney (73) scored a shock equaliser for the League One side. Kieran Lee (119) dealt a cruel blow on his debut as United were withholding attack after attack from Crewe, as he raced away to score.

Blackburn 0-2 Chelsea - It was a welcome return to first team action from Joe Cole as he opened the scoring on 53 minutes. Salomon Kalou (81) made the game safe for the Champions.

Charlton 1-0 Bolton - Marcus Bent (17) scored the only goal as the Addicks recorded only their third win under Iain Dowie, ironically 2 of which have come against Bolton.

Liverpool 4-3 Reading - A nervous finale for the home side, who seemed to have the game safe when leading 4-1 on 77 minutes. Robbie Fowler (44) opened the scoring and John Arne Riise (45) made it two on half time. Gabriel Paletta (50) scored his first for the club in front of the Kop before Andre Bikey (75) pulled one back. Peter Crouch (77) made it 4 to the home side, before Leroy Lita (81) and Shane Long (85) set up a tense ending to the match.

MK Dons 0-5 Tottenham - An easy night for the North Londoner's as clinical finishing proved the difference. The artist formerly known as Wimbledon started brightly, before Mido (35 & 60), and Jermaine Defoe (43 & 51) eased the pressure. Robbie Keane (90) scored the fifth through the goalkeeper's legs.

Newcastle 3-0 Portsmouth - Guiseppe Rossi scored on his full debut for the club (48) before Nolberto Solano (53 & 90) sealed the win against an under strength Pompey side.
