Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish says he had no hesitation in accepting the club’s offer to replace Roy Hodgson as manager. Liverpool’s new American owners axed Hodgson after the club slipped to 12th in the Premier League, and placed Dalglish in charge until the end of the season.

The Scot’s first game at the helm was Sunday’s controversial 1-0 defeat at Manchester United in the FA Cup, a game which saw referee Howard Webb award United a disputed penalty and then send off Steven Gerrard.

Dalglish has now brought in former Chelsea and West Ham assistant boss Steve Clarke as first team coach.
