Gold & Sullivan joy at takeover

West Ham United's immediate future has been secured after the Premier League side was finally taken over by David Gold and David Sullivan.

The former Birmingham City owners, who enjoyed 16 years in charge at St Andrews ending just two months ago, say it's a dream come true for them to take the Upton Park helm.

However, the level of debt at the club has been revealed to be over the £100m mark, with half owed to banks and £40m to other clubs. West Ham United themselves are not owed a penny according to David Gold.

Speaking at their first press conference since taking charge, the duo will welcome further investment from other suitors, and are determined to get the club out of the "mess it's got itself in to", but for the time being are delighted to finally buy their local club.
