Tottenham winger Aaron Lennon admitted to being the form of his life after the 5-1 demolition of a once-feared Croatia side at Wembley.

The 22 year-old gave Croatian left-back Josip Simunic a torrid time in the first half and contributed to both of the goals that had England 2-0 up within 16 minutes. First, he received a ball out wide before cutting inside, running in to the box before the hapless Simunic hauled him down, giving the referee an easy decision to make. Frank Lampard then opened the scoring, as he had in Saturday's friendly against Slovenia, from the spot.

Then the winger, who has been in brilliant form for his club so far this season, picked up a cross field pass from Steven Gerrard before floating a cross to the back post, which the Liverpool captain met with aplomb.

He was also involved in England's third, being felled again by Simunic, allowing Glen Johnson to pick up the ball and clip a cross in for Lampard to net his second of the night. Gerrard scored an almost identical goal to make it 4-0 from a Wayne Rooney cross before the Manchester United striker finished off the night with a side foot finish after goalkeeper Vedran Runje sliced a clearance straight in to his path.

But the night was all about Lennon, who picked up the Nationwide Man of the Match award for his exploits, and he's hoping to cement his place now on that right hand side of England's midfield.
