Fergie explains transfer policy
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson says he won’t be making any more signings this summer.
United have signed Michael Owen on a free transfer from Newcastle, splashed out £16million on Wigan winger Luis Antonio Valencia, and snapped up promising Bordeaux youngster Gabriel Obertan.
Ferguson has money to spend after the £80million world record transfer of Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid, and he has also lost Carlos Tevez to local rivals Manchester City.
However, the United boss insists he’s happy with the players at his disposal:
“There are amazing figures being tossed around this summer. It’s very hard to get good value for players, so we won’t be involved.
“You have to remember we have a lot of good young players in all positions. In Gabriel and Antonio we’ve brought in youth, and Michael’s experience will be vital.”
