New Manchester United signing Michael Owen says he’s thrilled to have signed for the club, and is keen to prove his career is far from over.

 

The England international has moved to Old Trafford on a free transfer from Newcastle, where he was beset by a series of injury problems.

 

Owen has lost his place in the England squad, and some critics have suggested he has lost his desire and passion for the sport.

 

But the former Liverpool striker insists he still has what it takes to perform at the highest level:

 

“I’m hungry to do well. If this challenge doesn’t create a hunger and a spring in your step and a smile on your face then nothing will.

 

“I’m hungry to succeed and I still believe that I can perform at a big club like Manchester United.

 

“It’s a dream to ply my trade here, but I feel I belong at a top club.”
