Chelsea deservedly ended Guus Hiddink's reign at the club by winning the FA Cup in boiling hot conditions at Wembley, despite conceding the fastest goal in the Final's history.
Former Manchester United striker Louis Saha swept the ball home after just 25 seconds, breaking the previous record held by Chelsea's Roberto Di Matteo when he struck against Middlesbrough after 42 seconds in 1997. Saha finished left footed even though there was a hint of offside in the build up on behalf of Steven Pienaar.
The goal galvanised Hiddink's men, with Didier Drogba rising highest above Joleon Lescott to restore parity just shy of the halfway mark in the first half, heading majestically from Florent Malouda's cross.
In the second half, Chelsea pressure finally paid off as Frank Lampard recovered from a stumble before lashing home left footed from distance, and it should have been 3 just minutes later - Florent Malouda's long range strike cannoning off the crossbar and bouncing behind the line - although match official Howard Webb and his assistant failed to spot it.
Chelsea held on in relative ease in the end, before celebrations began for the Dutchman and his side, ending a two-year spell without a trophy.
