Footballaudio.com understands Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has no intention of joining Real Madrid, and will stay with the Gunners for next season, writes Kevin Hatchard.
Reports have suggested criticism from fans and shareholders has caused Wenger to consider his future at the Emirates Stadium, with the Bernabeu a possible destination.
However, Wenger has serious reservations about working with potential Real Madrid chairman Florentino Perez, who looks set for a second spell at the helm. Wenger would want total control of transfers and the youth set-up, and such power would be virtually impossible to wield with Perez in charge.
Perez has a history of interference regarding transfer matters, and was the creator of the infamous Galacticos project. He orchestrated the purchase of superstars such as Zinedine Zidane, Luis Figo and David Beckham, but prolonged success failed to materialise.
This is a total departure from Wenger's way of working, and Perez has already stated he wants to sign AC Milan superstar Kaka. It seems unlikely that Perez's desire to sign established names can be reconciled with Wenger's desire to develop young talent.
Although stung by the criticism he has received, footballaudio.com understands Wenger is determined to carry on in his post, and has confidence he can bring silverware to the Emirates after four seasons without a trophy.
Wenger will now turn his attention to next season, with Wolfsburg duo Edin Dzeko and Josue already linked with summer moves to North London.
