Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp is believed to be losing interest in a summer move for Middlesbrough and England winger Stewart Downing.
Spurs have been admirers of Downing for some time, and their latest bid for the player was rebuffed in January.
However, Downing's performances have declined in a struggling Middlesbrough side who are likely to be relegated this weekend. In addition, Downing could be on the sidelines for a long spell after damaging a foot against Aston Villa.
Redknapp is thought to have been impressed by Croatia star Luka Modric's recent form on the left of the Spurs midfield and he may not move for a left-winger at all.
