Footballaudio.com understands Atletico Madrid are tracking Newcastle striker Obafemi Martins and winger Jonas Gutierrez, and could move for both if the Magpies are relegated.

Newcastle are expected to offload a host of players if they fail to avoid the drop on Sunday, with Martins and Gutierrez expected to seek moves away from St James's Park.

Nigerian forward Martins has averaged around a goal every three games since joining in a £10million move from Inter Milan in 2006, but it's thought he wouldn't be willing to play in the Championship. Atletico are considering him as a potential replacement for Diego Forlan, who's been strongly tipped to quit the Vicente Calderon this summer.

Gutierrez has struggled with injuries since his summer move from Mallorca, and has failed to score a single goal. However, the Argentine still has a good reputation in Spain, and Atletico are considering bringing him back to La Liga.
