Listen - Tottenham 0-0 Wigan - Poyet takes positives from dire draw
Listen - GUS POYET POST-WIGAN
There is no denying it's been a disastrous start to the season by Tottenham Hotspur. So much expectation in pre-season has been dashed so quickly as Spurs remain the only team to still be looking for a win in the top flight this season.
For 65 minutes at White Hart Lane against Wigan, the home team produced nothing, not a shot or a half chance, it was a team bereft of ideas and creativity, resorting to long balls down the channel and hoping Darren Bent could get on the end of them.
It was a far cry from the football of recent years, and most notably, the strikers of recent years who not only contributed so many goals, they created most of them, before leaving in the past two transfer windows.
However Gus Poyet is still trying to look at the positives, although anybody at the game would admit other than a clean sheet, there weren't any. Spurs looked like they have all season, not confident and no ideas. David Bentley is yet to deliver a set piece or cross, of which he is so famed, of any note and his substitution was greeted with the biggest cheer of the day, not because of Aaron Lennon replacing him, but because the £17m signing was so ineffective you struggle to think of one positive contribution he made to the game.
