They followed it up with a win in France over Marseille in the Champions League - banishing last season's awful start when they picked up just 1 point in their first 3 Champions League matches.

Next up is the visit of Premier League new boys Stoke City. Manager Rafa Benitez says he's very much looking forward to the contest and believes, despite their unbeaten start and impressive performances over the past 7 days, the side can play to a much higher level as they aim to mount a serious title challenge.
