Listen - WC 2010 Qualifier - Croatia 1-4 England - Hull revels in Croatia blitz
Listen - CHRIS HULL INTERVIEW
What a game and what a night as England exacted a small bit of revenge over their Croatian counterparts. Arguably the most influential factor in England's failure to qualify for Euro 2008 were the Croats, who won both at home and at Wembley to dash any hopes of reaching the tournament in Austria and Switzerland last summer, were simply outclassed by a clinical England team who gave little away.
The star of the show was undoubtedly Theo Walcott. The young Arsenal winger, who caused so much controversy two years ago over his inclusion in the World Cup squad having never played for Arsenal, got England off to the perfect start to their World Cup qualifying campaign this time around. Following the Andorra win, Walcott's hat-trick (with all 3 being created by Wayne Rooney) as well as Rooney sliding home a Jermaine Jenas cross, gave England fans a dream result in the Croatian capital.
Nationwide spokesman Chris Hull, our man in the England camp and who was in the stands for the match, says it's a tremendous feeling to finally see the national team producing on an important stage and believes it could prove the catalyst to spur on similar performances for the rest of the campaign.
