It's a familiar start to an extent as far as England's opponents are concerned. A trip to Barcelona begins the qualifying campaign for the 2010 World Cup as Andorra once again provide the opposition, as they did in the ill-fated Euro 2008 campaign. And after that, it's a trip to Croatia to renew old rivalries. Slaven Bilic got the better of previous manager Steve McClaren on both occasions as the Croats eventually reached the Quarter-Finals in Austria & Switzerland.
One surprise however sees Fulham midfielder Jimmy Bullard earn a shock call-up to the national squad for the very first time. It's the icing on the cake for the 29-year old midfielder, after a 15 month battle to return from a horrific cruciate injury co-incided with his club's amazing escape from relegation.
The former West Ham & Wigan international spoke to the media about his inclusion, saying he was still surprised by it all. Steven Gerrard is missing from this squad and the much-liked Bullard could find himself in the starting lineup for the trip to Andorra.
