Listen - Stoke City 3-2 Aston Villa - O'Neill downbeat over last gasp goal
Listen - Martin O'Neill post-Stoke interview!
A disappointing result for Aston Villa after losing out to Stoke City in their first away game of the season. Spirits were high after overcoming Manchester City with relative ease last time out, however a fortunate last gasp goal prevented Martin O'Neill's men from taking anything from the game.
After John Carew and Martin Laursen had responded to Liam Lawrence's penalty and Ricardo Fuller's strike, frustration was evident from the Irishman for failing to cope with Stoke's final long throw of the game as Mamady Sidibe scored for the home side with a somewhat fortuitous header in injury time.
O'Neill felt the team merited a share of the spoils but admitted it will take time for a set pattern of play to emerge with a number of new faces at Villa Park this season.
