Listen - Portsmouth - Crouch delighted to join forces again with Harry!
Listen - Peter Crouch, Peter Storrie & Harry Redknapp press conference!
It's official, Peter Crouch has ended his three years at Liverpool to move back to the South Coast and team up with Harry Redknapp for the third time.
The England striker left Fratton Park 6 years ago, just three days in to Redknapp's previous tenure after Aston Villa had offered £5m for his services. His time there was not his happiest, before Southampton offered him an escape route - for just £2m in 2004. Managerial upheaval and a poor start from the team meant Crouch had to wait till Redknapp took over at St Mary's before finding his form. His excellent record for the Saints saw him scoring 16 goals in 33 games - a goal return which put him into the England squad for a summer tour of the USA.
That summer, he moved for £7m to Anfield and despite a terrible start to his career on Merseyside, going 18 games without scoring, he eventually finished with 40 goals in 132 appearances, with a large number coming from the bench over the past two seasons.
So it's back to what he knows best and a partnership with Jermaine Defoe at Fratton Park. Crouch and Redknapp could not hide their delight at being reunited again!
