Despite some 10 days to reflect so far on relegation from the Premier League, Reading fans at least have something to smile about after chairman John Madejski confirmed manager Steve Coppell would stay on in his role for next season.

Many in the footballing world believed the ex-Crystal Palace manager would walk away from Berkshire this summer following their drop back into the Championship after two seasons in England's top flight but Madejski confirmed he's backing his manager and delighted he has decided to stay on to orchestrate a return to the Premier League.
