Listen - West Ham 2-2 Aston Villa - O'Neill upbeat over club future
Listen to Martin O'Neill's post-West Ham press conference!
With Everton beating Newcastle United at Goodison Park and thus cementing 5th spot in the Premier League, Dean Ashton's late strike at the Boleyn meant no harm was done for the visiting Aston Villa as they secured 6th place.
It confirms Villa will take part in the Intertoto Cup and manager Martin O'Neill says in its new format, the competition isn't the handicap it was in recent years and is looking forward to taking his side into Europe.
O'Neill reflects on the season and believes his relatively small squad has performed admirably in pushing the race for that automatic UEFA Cup spot right down to the last day.
Ex-Villan Nobby Solano opened the scoring for the Hammers' before Ashley Young's equaliser and Gareth Barry looked set to secure all 3 points before Ashton's 87th minute leveller.
