Listen - Birmingham City 2-2 Liverpool - McLeish frustrated by dropped points

With Birmingham City falling victim to Bolton's previous two wins on the spin, it was a sell out crowd at St Andrews' in a bid to get the team back to winning ways in their relegation fight. The Blues' capitulation at arch city rivals Aston Villa last week was an embarassment for the fans and with the visitors having more than one eye on their midweek Champions League tie, they could certainly have been forgiven for thinking this was a good chance to take all 3 points.

Last time Rafa Benitez visited the ground, Liverpool ran amok, winning 7-0 in the League Cup Quarter Final in 2006 - but with the likes of Fernando Torres having the afternoon off and Steven Gerrard on the bench, such one-sidedness was not going to be a threat.

Instead it was the home side who started better, with Mikael Forssell opening the scoring. Then Sebastian Larsson's free-kick on 55 minutes doubled their lead and the home fans started to believe their side were getting themselves out of trouble.

Alas it was not to be - Peter Crouch scored just 8 minutes later before Yossi Benayoun's deflected header snatched a point.

It was a goal that left Alex McLeish deflated at dropping two points the Blues' could not afford to lose.
