Listen - Blackburn 1-1 Man Utd - Hughes laments 'wrong decision'

Listen to Mark Hughes' post-Man Utd press conference!

The hopes for Blackburn qualifying automatically for Europe through the league have gone after victory was snatched from them late on at Ewood Park.

Rovers needed to win all their remaining games to stake any sort of claim for that coveted 5th spot and looked set to pull of a surprise result when Roque Santa Cruz scored for the 19th time this season.

Sheer heroics from Brad Friedel in goal kept the scores level after the break, with a number of reaction saves keeping the deficit in the home side's favour. But it was not to be as Nani's corner was eventually headed in by Carlos Tevez.

The decision for the corner itself was what upset Mark Hughes after the game, who believed the Argentine had got the last touch in the move that led to the corner. But he admits he's also upset at his side's defending - with Paul Scholes flicking on for the Argentine to score. Both players were the shortest in the box and yet won both headers.

Steve Bruce may have received text messages from a number of the United coaching staff & players for Wigan's draw at Chelsea on Monday, but Hughes, of both United & Chelsea fame, believes he won't be getting as many compliments from his ex-team mates.
