Listen - Champions League Quarter-Final 1st Leg: Fenerbahce 2-1 Chelsea - Grant still harbours hopes
Listen to Avram Grant's post-Fenerbahce press-conference!
All the talk before the match was about how hostile an atmosphere the partizan Turkish crowd would generate but with one half finished, Chelsea managed to achieve their first aim by silencing them.
The only goal of a dominant first 45 minutes came as a result of Fenerbahce midfielder Deivid managing to deflect Florent Malouda's cross in to his own net, but it should have been so much more for the Londoners.
Didier Drogba saw his shot brilliantly saved by Fenerbahce keeper Demirel as the visitors' missed a host of chances.
And they were made to pay in the second half when ex-Sheffield United striker Colin Kazim-Richards finished off with aplomb to level the match before Deivid atoned for his error by slamming home from 25 yards past a despairing dive from Carlo Cudicini.
Speaking after the game, Avram Grant admitted his frustration at failing to capitalise on their possession and chances but still believes Chelsea will qualify for the Semi-Finals of the Champions League for the third time in 4 seasons.
