Listen - England v Switzerland - Beckham: "It would be unfair to call me up"

He may be disappointed to be back home in Los Angeles but the one man media mountain David Beckham isn't showing it.

The 32 year-old returned to pre-season training with the LA Galaxy under new manager Ruud Gullit today and finally responded to his omission from Fabio Capello's first squad.

Beckham surprised the gathering media by claiming it would have been 'unfair' for him to be included, despite training with Arsenal in order to keep himself sharp. Capello had claimed the only reason for leaving out the former captain was due to his lack of match fitness, with the American season ending back in October.

Despite the public outcry at missing out on his 100th cap, Becks insists the Italian has made the right choice.
