Avram Grant, speaking after his side capped a fine week by booking their place in the last 16 of the FA Cup, heaped praise onto Nicolas Anelka after the £15m man finally got off the blocks with his first goal for the Blues. The 28 year-old striker had hit the crossbar on a few occassions in previous matches before a deft touch from Juliano Belletti's long ball into the box opened his account for the London club.

Grant believes the side showed a lot of character after coming through a tough week in the North West.
