Listen - Arsenal 2-1 Tottenham - Poyet won't blame Keane
Tottenham Hotspur assistant manager Gus Poyet, speaking after the 2-1 defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates, says he refuses to blame Robbie Keane for his penalty miss which eventually turned the game.
After a subdued first half Arsenal scored early in the second, before Dimitar Berbatov capitalised on a Keane flick to smash home from a tight angle. Then came the turning point with less than 20 minutes remaining. The magnificent Berbatov was felled by Kolo Toure in the box and Keane stepped up. Having only missed 1 penalty in 15 for Spurs, the travelling faithful were expecting a goal which Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger admitted afterwards "would have given them all 3 points." But Manuel Almunia didn't commit and palmed away the effort. And just three minutes later substitute Nicklas Bendtner headed home from a corner to keep all the points in N7.
Poyet admitted the penalty miss was crucial and that despite such a positive performance from the team, it was still a 'sad day' for the club as a good chance to win away went begging.
